THE HORSEMAN IS BACK IN HIS OWN ONGOING SERIES

That’s right, Hector Lee Caballero aka the Horseman, is coming back for THE HORSEMAN #1 after the MASSIVE SUCCESS of his kickoff introduction issue THE HORSEMAN: WELCOME TO FLORESPARK, or WTF as it has been lovingly dubbed by the fans. This character was created by industry legends, Chuck Dixon and Joe Bennett, who dreamt up this character as a street-level vigilante who, unlike most of the heroes we see in The Rippaverse Comics, is not a super-powered Except. He is a trained military man, trying to do some good, who was forced to relocate when a battle with an organized crime syndicate took too much heat. Hector packed up his family, his sister, Patty, and her son, Danny, to move to Florespark, Texas, in the hopes of keeping them safe. But safety isn’t a part of the Horseman’s life.

WELCOME TO FLORESPARK, HECTOR

When Horseman arrives in Florespark, he finds that there are criminal organizations peddling drugs, which simply cannot continue in his eyes. He dons a new Horseman costume and starts doing his lethal, good work again, cleaning up the streets. Business is booming! Horse takes out the trash and takes their funds as a way of looking after his family. Things seem to be going well until two dirty detectives catch Horseman in the act and discover his secret identity. Worried for the safety of his family, he is forced to play along as the crooked detectives, Milo Deems & Lex Tremayne, use Horse to line their own pockets, much to the frustration of the crime boss in charge, who they are supposed to be working for, Tuna.

The Florespark Police Department has its hands full with a new vigilante who is leaving quite a trail behind them. It’s only a matter of time before more people are aware of Hector’s secret. Things start hitting too close to home when Danny sees his uncle putting large stacks of cash under his mattress, when he tells his mom, Patty, the shit really hits the fan and Hector is forced to come clean about his extracurricular activities. He also must let them know about the danger they are in. Patty is furious as she takes her son to safety. A widow who is in a wheelchair after being shot while pregnant, luckily her son survived the attack, but her husband didn’t. She has no idea that Horse went on a bloody rampage to avenge them, yet he’s not sure if he even got the guy during his brutal revenge. Another secret that Patty is unaware of.

With his family safe and out of town, Hector can start playing things more dangerously. He shows up at the police department, much to the annoyance of Milo & Lex. They want to keep things quiet, Hector jokes that he didn’t know if the whole station was in on their racket. Tuna is getting pissed that his bought detectives aren’t getting him the answers he needs so he engages two ‘Nazi Muthas’ to get the job done – Blitz and Sturm. The psychopaths go through all the gangs to find answers, ultimately finding Horse. Lex and Milo set him up to be taken out permanently.

Horseman walks into the ambush, where Milo and Lex are killed by Sturm. Horse is in for the fight of his life against two powerful Excepts with only his wits and his guns to get him out of this mess. Blitz and Sturm are two dangerous killers – Blitz is a bulletproof Except with super strength that makes her punch like being hit by a semi-truck, and Sturm can control metal. It looks like things are dire for the Horseman, perhaps this is his last ride, when an unlikely ally comes to his aid – none other than the Alphacore’s man of few words, Braxwell. Braxwell delivers an epic shit kicking as Horseman loses consciousness. He awakens in the Eagles Nest with the main Alphacore team joining Braxwell, Bryan Solari, and Ingrid Valdez, looking at him in recovery.

Horseman gets off easy this time with a warning. You stop this before you get yourself killed. You are the Horseman no more. It feels like Horse is going to take Bryan Solari’s words to heart, and he’s flown by the war hero home. Hector rejoins with Patty and Danny now that the danger is over. Things look bright for this family now that they can start to put all of this behind them. The Horseman is officially retired.

OR IS HE???

You’ll have to pick up THE HORSEMAN #1 to find out what happens next!!!

A DYNAMIC DUO CREATIVE TEAM

Chuck Dixon and Joe Bennett are icons in the creative space. Chuck Dixon has a film – A WORKING MAN – directed by David Ayer and starring Jason Statham based on his book, Levon’s Trade, that took in $15 million dollars at the box office in its opening weekend – a huge accomplishment in theatre screenings especially when studio films like Snow White are flopping and independent gems like Novocaine, starring Jack Quaid, are having trouble getting audiences to come out, topping the box office last week and only making $8 million dollars. But comic fans know Chuck from his incredible cinematic writing style, writing memorable, powerful stories for characters like The Punisher, Batman, Nightwing, and Robin. Chuck famously co-created Bane with his collaborative partner, Graham Nolan. Teamed with Joe Bennett at the Rippaverse, they started their collaboration on Alphacore, defining the characters and world for the super cops before moving on to their first original character solo series for the company with The Horseman. Joe is world-renowned for his unique style that jumps off the page and storytelling through action and character expression. He has worked on countless well-known titles like The Amazing Spider-Man, Captain America, Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Birds of Prey, and many more! His work on The Immortal Hulk was nominated for an Eisner Award in 2019.

Paired together, Chuck and Joe’s creativity has been unleashed at the Rippaverse, the company giving these two geniuses free rein to tell the stories they’ve always wanted to tell, and it’s been a glorious union. The success of The Horseman: Welcome to Florespark ensured that wasn’t the last time you were going to be seeing Horse in action, and this newest issue is going to knock your socks off with the impeccable storytelling and gorgeous artwork!!!

HOLD ONTO YOUR BUTTS – because the Horseman rides again!!
