An interview with the RippaSend creator of The Mighty Golden Patriot

Jen & Sylvia Soska

RippaSend is the ultimate tool for artists to connect with their audiences and get their art into their hands without hassle. When Eric July created The Rippaverse, he often said a rising tide raises all ships. Eric saw incredible success for himself and The Rippaverse, but that was not enough. He saw where the comic book industry was falling short and sought to be the difference it needed. Eric also saw that other artists were struggling to get their work out there. Not everyone has the resources of The Rippaverse, so Eric took it upon himself to create RippaSend. If you’re an artist and need help with fulfillment and a reliable storefront to store and ship out your work, we have you covered. Simply head on over to RippaSend.com and drop us a line. We are here to help.

We are ecstatic to have joined forces with popular YouTuber, pop culture commentator, and now comic book author, YellowFlash, for his debut comic book with RippaSend, The Mighty Golden Patriot. This World War II epic has everything fans will love about stories from this time – brave, selfless heroes, heartless villains, victory, losses, and incredible, unpredictable twists and bends at every corner. It is the first book in an ongoing series, so you do not want to miss out on this unbelievable adventure and must-have collector’s item. I was very pleased to catch up with the creator, YellowFlash, and have a chat about this action-packed story.

Thank you for joining us, dear reader! Without further ado, let’s dive right in!

Q1. For those who may not know you or be familiar with what you do, would you kindly introduce yourself and tell us a little about what you’re known for?
YellowFlash: I’m a lifelong comic book fan and a YouTuber.

Q2. What was the comic book or comic book character that first got you into being a fan, and why were they so special to you?
YellowFlash: My very first exposure to comics was watching old reruns of Batman ‘66 as a kid, which led to me finding him in comics. My first comic was Robin: Joker’s Wild. The artwork really pulled me in.

Q3. Who are your favorite comic book characters or comic book series?
YellowFlash: Spider-Man, Nightwing, Teen Titans, X-Men, Batman, TMNT, What If?, Power Rangers (Boom), Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Ball, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Superman.

Q4. Why are you fascinated by World War II, and what made it such a point of interest for you?
YellowFlash: Some of my favorite comics to read are Golden Age military comics, especially if they had a superhero fighting with them. It’s interesting to see what entertainment was like during such a significant era in the world. You don’t read a lot of comics directly set in WWII anymore either, so I wanted to bring it back.

Q5. Where did the idea for The Mighty Golden Patriot come from?
YellowFlash: I had a crazy dream of a Sentai-style character fighting in a world war. I thought it was a fun idea and went with it.

Q6. What was the process like, getting The Mighty Golden Patriot from an idea into a completed comic book?
YellowFlash: It’s rather difficult to take a story and compress it down to a limited number of pages. But once you get everything going, it can be a lot of fun.

Q7. Are there movies or artists that influenced The Mighty Golden Patriot for you, and how so?
YellowFlash: I really enjoy the Tokusatsu genre of entertainment in Japan—Super Sentai/Power Rangers, something like that with an Indiana Jones, shonen action feel. A lot of inspiration came from all of those.

Q8. What do you feel makes Jack such a unique hero?
YellowFlash: Jack is unique in that he’s just a WWII pilot who gains accidental powers that are unstable because he has no idea how to really use them. His optimism and courage as a soldier help him learn on the fly, as he is hunted by the Nazis.

Q9. What do you hope readers will take from this story?
YellowFlash: I hope they enjoy the book enough to read it more and more!

Q10. What, if anything, can you tell us about where readers can expect the story to go next?
YellowFlash: I think you’ll likely see some Kaiju action in the future.

Q11. What advice do you have for aspiring writers out there?
YellowFlash: Don’t let fear stop you.

Q12. Where can people find you and your work?
YellowFlash: You can find me at @yellowflashguy on X and YellowFlash 2 on YouTube.
