Will Conrad, a renowned artist known for his breathtaking work in DC, Marvel, and numerous other titles, recently collaborated with The Rippaverse on sets One and Two of the Dokumaan Trading Cards. This blog post reveals some of his inspirations and journey as an artist and his exciting upcoming collaboration with the legendary Mike Baron on Goodyng: The Polymath.
From his early childhood, Will found joy in drawing and transporting himself into the realm of the comics he loved. Despite coming from a traditional family where an artistic career was not highly incentivized, Will’s passion for drawing and creating led him to pursue a career as a professional artist.
Will was influenced by a variety of comics growing up, including “Turma da Monica,” Marvel and DC comics, Conan, Asterix, Calvin and Hobbes, Spirit, Tarzan, and Prince Valiant. All of these aroused his desire to learn drawing and storytelling.
Working as a professional comic book artist has been a dream come true for Will. He is grateful for the opportunity to work with something he loves every day. Among his numerous projects, he has particularly enjoyed working on Joss Whedon’s Serenity, Conan, The Avengers, Justice League, Superman, and Goodyng: The Polymath.
Will holds a special place in his heart for the Buffyverse, as it was his first gig in the business. His experience at Rippaverse has been equally rewarding, offering him a feeling of freedom on the pages and the chance to contribute to the universe and the storytelling itself.
Collaborating with Mike Baron has been an exciting journey for Will. He appreciated the compelling narrative flows and the development of characters in Mike’s scripts.
Bringing the unique world and characters of Goodyng to life was a fun experience for Will. His favorite character, Gina, embodies strength, beauty, loyalty, and a free spirit, making her the perfect girl.
Will’s artwork on the Dokumaan cards has been stunning, capturing almost every character in the Rippaverse. Outside of Goodyng: The Polymath, he recommends fans to check out his work on other books such as Serenity (Those Left Behind and Better Days), Out, Red Border, The Collector, his run on Cyborg and Captain Atom during the DC Rebirth and the latest Flash Gordon.
