Jay David, the creative mind behind the Achromatic Chronicles, has captivated readers with his debut novel, Achromatic Chronicles: Blue. This coming-of-age story follows Jon, a boy in a colorless world, who embarks on a thrilling adventure with a vibrant creature named Blue. The sequel, Achromatic Chronicles: Green, is set to release through RippaSend, the publishing and fulfillment division of the Rippaverse. We had the pleasure of chatting with Jay about his inspiration, the significance of his work, and what fans can expect next.

The Genesis of Achromatic Chronicles

How did the Achromatic Chronicles come to be?

“When I was teaching 5th grade, I had an idea of a collection of stories that taught purpose and value,” Jay explains. “Young people need to be inspired, and they need to know even at a young age that they have value and a purpose in this world.”

Inspirations Behind the Chronicles

Were Pleasantville or One Piece an inspiration for the Achromatic Chronicles?

“The black-and-white world was what I thought the world would look like to a person living a life without value or purpose,” Jay says. “It is colorless, bland, and boring. For Blue, the first book, Peter Pan, probably had the biggest inspiration.”

Emphasizing Human Dignity in Youth Entertainment

How important was portraying human dignity in Achromatic Chronicles?

“Very Important,” Jay asserts. “I put these stories together for a younger audience. I wanted them to see you didn’t have to be perfect to change the world around and be the hero.”

Classic Influences and the Spirit of Adventure

Were classic stories like The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe and Alice in Wonderland influential?

“Huge, I’ve read all those books,” Jay shares. “I think that is why the movie The Goonies means a lot to me. It is an adventure with pirates and treasure maps, and the goonies are all the misfits who save the day. Now that I’m older, it reminds me to never lose that sense of adventure. Live life to the fullest and take a chance because you never know what treasure you might find.”

Jon’s Relatable Journey

How important was the lesson of discovering individuality in driving your story?

“Very important, it was the lesson that I wanted each reader to find,” Jay says. Jon’s quest to find his place in the world while maintaining his individuality is a universal theme that resonates with readers of all ages.

Creating Blue and His Unique Powers

How did you come up with Blue and his powers?

“I can’t give too much away because I still have three more books to go,” Jay teases. Blue, as a colorful creature in a monochrome world, symbolizes hope and change, and his powers are central to the unfolding narrative.

Teaching and Its Influence on the Chronicles

How did your experience teaching 5th grade inspire the Achromatic Chronicles?

“It was the entire reason for this series,” Jay reveals. “I wanted to put something in this world for an age group that hopefully would be inspired.”

Exploring the Colored World

Will we see more of the Colored World in Achromatic Chronicles: Green?

“Yes, Green will answer questions that might have been missed or left unanswered in Blue,” Jay confirms. Fans can look forward to more adventures in the vibrant, magical world that contrasts starkly with Jon’s own.

Adventures with Blue Beard and the Pirates

Will we get to see more of Blue Beard and the pirates in your next book?

“Yes,” Jay assures. The pirates, introduced in Blue, promise more thrilling escapades and crucial roles in the ongoing saga.

Availability of the Chronicles

Is Achromatic Chronicles: Blue still available, and when can we order Achromatic Chronicles: Green?

“Blue will be available when we sell Green. So, if you missed out, you can grab both of them. I promise you are going to love them,” Jay says. Fans eager to dive into Jon and Blue’s adventures can soon get their hands on both books.

Future of the Achromatic Chronicles

What can you tell us about Achromatic Chronicles: Green and beyond?

“After Green, there are two more books to finish the story,” Jay reveals. The journey is far from over, and readers can look forward to more exciting developments.

Bringing the Chronicles to Life through Animation

Can you talk about the animation you’re working on for the Achromatic Chronicles?

“Yes, because of the success of Blue, it was my dream to turn it into a movie. Working with some great people and voice actors to make this a reality. But animation is not cheap, so buy as many books as possible to help me out. Ha!” Jay laughs. The prospect of seeing Jon and Blue’s adventures animated is thrilling for fans.

Connecting with Jay David Online

Where can we find you online, and what else are you working on?

“You can find me on the Drunk3po Channel, but my favorite YouTube channel I run is ‘The History of Pirates’ on YouTube,” Jay says. “I have a degree in history, and it is my first love. I am working with some amazing people on a book called Daughter Revenge. It’s a pirate adventure. We can talk about that another time.”
