A look back at some of Orlando's best moments

Andrew Rodriguez

Sunny Orlando, Florida, remained true to its moniker, the “Sunshine State,” welcoming geeks from all over the world with open arms. Fans are the lifeblood of geekdom, without them, none of the time-tested franchises we’ve all come to love would have made it to the heights they now (or once) enjoy. Conventions give fans the opportunity to meet some of their favorite creators and casts of their favorite shows, films, and games, as well as their favorite writers and artists. But the fans don’t hold exclusive rights to these benefits! The inverse is also true, as creators and contributors get the honor of meeting with the fans who have supported their work and allowed them the blessing of continuing to create—a dream job for many that few truly get to experience. We at The Rippaverse are no exception to this rule. In fact, being an entirely independent comic book company, we must appreciate the gravity of the fans more than most, and boy, do we ever!

This MegaCon Orlando 2025 weekend, we had a slew of fantastic guests lined up for our booth (#5125), with the short day, Thursday kicking us off with RippaSend creator and the writer of Achromatic Chronicles, Jay David, aka Drunk3p0, the Achromatic Chronicles: Green artist, Erik Hodson, the Geeks and Gamers team, Criticless, and Disparu. Not only did Jay have copies of both Achromatic Chronicles: Blue and Achromatic Chronicles: Green on hand for sale, but he and Erik were also happy to sign copies for fans, proving why they’re some of the nicest guys around!

Friday was a real doozy, though, with an absolutely PACKED schedule featuring the writers of Yaira, Bloodruth, Lilian Ronashi, and Michael Copper, Jen and Sylvia Soska! The Soskas are notorious for their love of the fans and the appreciation they have for them. Fans who were lucky enough to swing by while they were around were treated to warm smiles, warmer hugs, and free autographs and photos. No NDAs were harmed at this event, however, with NDAndrew on the scene. Concealed within his fortress, the lord of Mordor sees all. His gaze pierces cloud, shadow, earth, and fle—whoops. Wrong franchise… *AHEM*

But that was only the beginning! Several members of the Geeks and Gamers team were special guests of our Rippaverse booth at the convention, with Drunk3p0 returning to represent his long-time team as well. Jay and Erik were on deck in the afternoon for a dedicated meet-and-greet Achromatic Chronicles signing for those who weren’t at the con’s early day.

The cap off to Friday, however, was the Rippaverse Writers Signing with both our founder and owner, Eric July, and the Soska Sisters on deck to sign books, take photos, and just chat with the greatest comic book fans in the world.

Saturday was the real party! Not only did our writers return to spend time with their fans, but the Return of the Fandom Panel brought with it a jam-packed room of fans to sit in on what turned out to be a fantastic discussion on fandom and the state of entertainment, followed by a Meet The Panelists meet-and-greet for the fans to ask the panelists about their discussion. The panel encouraged fans to look forward to the continuing rise of independent creators in this new landscape of entertainment and celebrate the wins we had as fans in 2024. If that wasn’t enough, the Orlando Meetup afterparty at Universal Studios offered another opportunity for fans from around the world to get together and share a fun-filled evening together. This is what fandom is all about, and we have the best one in the world. Bar none.

Be sure to check out all of the convention footage on our YouTube channel and those of our FNT and Fellowship friends, and thank you for continuing to be great with us!
